26 LC 129 0696 Senate Resolution 638 By: Senators Anavitarte of the 31st, Burns of the 23rd, Hatchet t of the 50th, Gooch of the 51st, Hufstetler of the 52nd and others A RESOLUTION Commending and recognizing Haynes King of the Georgia Institute of Technology for his1 outstanding achievements in football and for his contribution t o athletics in the state of2 Georgia; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Haynes King displayed exceptional talent, dedication, and determination in4 football, earning several outstanding athletic accolades and di stinctions throughout his5 career; and6 WHEREAS, in 2025, he was named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year,7 a prestigious recognition of his excellence and prowess on the field; and8 WHEREAS, in 2025, he was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year , further9 acknowledging his dominance in the sport; and10 WHEREAS, during the 2025 season, he rushed and passed for a com bined total of 3,92011 yards, the highest ever for a Georgia Tech student athlete; and12 WHEREAS, throughout his career at Georgia Tech, he scored 91 co mbined touchdowns13 through the air and on the ground, the highest ever for a Yellow Jacket; and14 S. R. 638 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0696 WHEREAS, during his career at Georgia Tech, Haynes King amassed over 10,000 yards of15 total offense, ranking second all-time in Georgia Tech history, cementing his legacy among16 the greatest offensive players to ever wear the White and Gold; and17 WHEREAS, he delivered one of the most prolific individual performances in Georgia Tech18 history by recording over 500 yards of total offense in a single game, setting a new school19 record and exemplifying his capacity for historic performances on the sport’s biggest stages;20 and21 WHEREAS, he received the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, an honor presented annually22 to the top offensive player in college football with ties to the state of Texas, recognizing not23 only his exceptional performance on the field, but also his character; and24 WHEREAS, during the 2025 season, he rushed for an average of 79 .4 yards per game,25 leading all quarterbacks in the ACC in that category and unders coring his rare ability to26 impact the game as both a passer and a runner; and27 WHEREAS, during the 2025 season, he scored an average of 7.5 points per game, leading28 all quarterbacks in the ACC as a testament to his ability to di rectly contribute to Georgia29 Tech’s offensive success; and30 WHEREAS, he displayed remarkable durability and grit, repeatedly rising after hard fought31 plays to continue competing at t he highest level, earning the r espect of teammates,32 opponents, and fans alike; and33 WHEREAS, Haynes King was recognized for his character and servi ce off the field as a34 AFCA Good Works Team nominee and was named to the official watch list for the Wuerffel35 S. R. 638 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0696 Trophy, honors that recognize student athletes who exemplify le adership, community36 involvement, and dedication to making a positive impact beyond the game of football; and37 WHEREAS, his success on the football field has brought immense pride to the Georgia38 Institute of Technology, the Atlanta community, and the state of Georgia, as he stands as a39 role model for aspiring student athletes.40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body41 commend and congratulate Haynes King for his outstanding athlet ic achievements in the42 sport of football and extend their best wishes for his continue d success in his career and43 future endeavors.44 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed45 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Haynes King.46 S.
