HR1112: HR1112 Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026; urge statewide support

26 LC 52 0866 House Resolution 1112 By: Representatives Scott of the 76th, Davis of the 87th, and Schofield of the 63rd A RESOLUTION Urging statewide support for the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026," an act promoting1 equitable access to menstrual products to reduce period poverty, improve public health, and2 support student success; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, period poverty affects thousands of Georgia residents, disproportionately4 impacting students, low-income families, and individuals in underserved communities; and5 WHEREAS, the inability to access menstrual products leads to mi ssed school days, work6 absences, and public health concerns; and7 WHEREAS, eliminating the 4 percent state sales tax on menstrual products will make these8 essential items more affordable; and9 WHEREAS, providing free menstrual products in public schools, courthouses, government10 buildings, and university buildings promotes dignity, supports public health, reduces11 absenteeism, and affirms that menstrual care is a basic health necessity; and12 H. R. 1112 - 1 - 26 LC 52 0866 WHEREAS, local governments, private businesses, and nonprofit o rganizations are13 encouraged to support the implementation of the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026"14 through partnerships, donations, and awareness campaigns; and15 WHEREAS, the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026" furthers this state's commitment16 to gender equity, health equity, and educational access.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body urge statewide support for the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of19 2026," an act promoting equitable access to menstrual products to reduce period poverty,20 improve public health, and support student success.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the23 Governor, the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Department of Public Health,24 the Association County Commissioners of Georgia, the Georgia Municipal Association, and25 all members of the Georgia General Assembly.26 H.
