26 LC 129 0630 House Resolution 1130 By: Representatives Gambill of the 15th and Scoggins of the 14th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelte r upon 30 years of1 dedicated service; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 2026, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter will be ce lebrating the 30th3 anniversary of its founding; and4 WHEREAS, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter provides men, women, and families in5 Cartersville, Georgia, with temporary shelter and physical, emotional, and spiritual support6 in times of need; and7 WHEREAS, established during an ice storm on February 2, 1996, t he Good Neighbor8 Homeless Shelter has grown from humble beginnings in a borrowed house to transforming9 the lives of countless individuals in a 24-hour facility with capacity for 30 guests; and10 WHEREAS, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter now operates two emergency shelters as11 well offers more than 10 units of transitional housing for families and children; and12 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this13 extraordinary organization be appropriately recognized.14 H. R. 1130 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0630 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15 the members of this body congratulate the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter upon 30 years16 of service, commend it for its many outstanding contributions o n behalf of the citizens of17 Georgia, and extend best wishes for its continued growth, development, and success.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the20 Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.21 H.
