A RESOLUTION
Honoring International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, 2026; and for other1
purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Holocaust, in which six million Jewish men, women, and children were3
systematically murdered by the Nazi regime, along with millions of others, including people4
with disabilities, political dissidents, and countless others, serves as a solemn reminder of5
what happens when hate is unchecked; and6
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia honors the memory of those who perished, the survivors7
who carry the scars of their experiences, and the generations w ho have inherited the8
responsibility to remember and educate future generations; and9
WHEREAS, on this anniversary, the State of Georgia recommits it self to combating the10
global rise in antisemitism; and11
WHEREAS, the people of Georgia recognize the importance of combating hate and bigotry12
in all forms, standing in solidarity against antisemitism, raci sm, and all forms of13
discrimination that seek to dehumanize and divide us; and14

WHEREAS, the lessons of the Holocaust call upon us to be vigila nt, to uphold human15
dignity, and to actively promote peace, understanding, and respect for all people, regardless16
of their background, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, or religion; and17
WHEREAS, this day serves as a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the18
enduring importance of remembrance.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
recognize January 27, 2026, as International Holocaust Remembra nce Day; avow that we21
will remember the history and lessons of the Holocaust and honor its victims, survivors and22
liberators; and pledge to stand together to combat hate and honor our solemn responsibilities23
as citizens in a democracy.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the26
press.27
