26 LC 129 0589 House Resolution 1144 By: Representative Mitchell of the 88th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 19, 2026, as Girls Empowerment Day, GlobalHer Justice Day, and the1 World Day of Social Justice; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Trinity Girls Network, founded in July 2016 by Dr. Jac queline Mohair, an3 Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award recipient, has demonstrated a sustained and impactful4 commitment to empowering girls and young women through educatio n, leadership5 development, violence prevention, and global advocacy; and6 WHEREAS, Trinity Girls Network is the founding organization of GlobalHer Justice, an7 initiative dedicated to advancing justice, protection, access, and opportunity for women and8 girls locally, nationally, and globally, with particular emphas is on survivors of violence,9 underserved communities, and systemic equity; and10 WHEREAS, GlobalHer Justice aligns with the United Nations priority of Justice for Women11 and Girls, advancing justice-centered solutions through educati on, policy awareness,12 international dialogue, and collaborative action to strengthen human rights protections and13 equitable access to opportunity worldwide; and14 H. R. 1144 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0589 WHEREAS, Trinity Girls Network operates as a non-governmental o rganization with15 consultative status under the United Nations Economic and Socia l Council (ECOSOC),16 enabling advocacy for women and girls on a global platform and alignment with the United17 Nations Sustainable Development Goals; and18 WHEREAS, Trinity Girls Network and GlobalHer Justice extend the ir impact19 internationally, including ongoing humanitarian, educational, and empowerment initiatives20 in Zambia and other global regions, providing essential resources, leadership development,21 and advocacy support to girls and young women in need; and22 WHEREAS, despite global progress, millions of girls and young w omen continue to face23 barriers to education, safety, justice, and opportunity, unders coring the urgent need for24 coordinated empowerment and justice-centered initiatives; and25 WHEREAS, research consistently demonstrates that investing in girls and women through26 education and justice initiatives leads to healthier families, stronger economies, safer27 communities, and lasting generational change; and28 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to countless gifted girls and young women whose29 leadership potential is strengthened through initiatives that p romote education,30 empowerment, civic engagement, and justice; and31 WHEREAS, the observance of Girls Empowerment Day and GlobalHer Justice Day on32 February 19, 2026, intentionally aligns with the United Nations World Day of Social Justice,33 reinforcing a shared commitment to justice-centered solutions t hat empower girls and34 women, address systemic inequities, and promote dignity, safety , and opportunity at the35 local, national, and global levels; and36 H. R. 1144 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0589 WHEREAS, the annual observance of Girls Empowerment Day, GlobalHer Justice Day, and37 the World Day of Social Justice convenes Trinity Girls Network, GlobalHer Justice, The Dr.38 Pat Houston Performing Arts Academy, The Organization of World Leaders, and The39 Whitney Houston Foundation at the Georgia State Capitol to elev ate awareness, inspire40 leadership, and advance justice for women and girls.41 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that42 the members of this body commend Trinity Girls Network and the GlobalHer Justice43 initiative for their leadership, service, and advocacy on behalf of women and girls in Georgia44 and around the world, including their work in partnership with the United Nations. 45 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body recognize February 19, 2026,46 as Girls Empowerment Day, GlobalHer Justice Day, and the World Day of Social Justice,47 honoring the achievements, resilience, and promise of girls and young women while48 affirming justice, education, equity, and opportunity as foundational pillars of empowerment.49 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized50 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the51 public and the press.52 H.
