26 LC 129 0514 House Resolution 1137 By: Representatives Cummings of the 39 th, Parsons of the 44 th, Williams of the 37 th, Adesanya of the 43rd, Campbell of the 35th, and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating Sonic Edge of Pebblebrook High School for winning the 2025 International1 Championship of High School A Cappella; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the 17-member a cappella ensemble, Sonic Edge, of Pebblebrook High School’s3 Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts has ex hibited extraordinary4 artistry, teamwork, and commitment to musical excellence; and5 WHEREAS, under the expert direction and mentorship of Mr. Trey Giddens, Director of6 Choral Activities and coach of Sonic Edge, the ensemble has ris en to the highest levels of7 achievement and professionalism in national performance; and8 WHEREAS, Dr. Dana Giles, Principal of Pebblebrook High School, has provided9 exceptional leadership and steadfast support to the school’s pe rforming arts program,10 ensuring that students have the opportunity to pursue excellenc e both academically and11 artistically; and12 WHEREAS, in April 2025, Sonic Edge competed in the International Championship of High13 School A Cappella Finals in New York City and won the National Championship title for the14 H. R. 1137 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0514 second consecutive year, thus bringing honor and distinction to Pebblebrook High School,15 Cobb County, and the State of Georgia; and16 WHEREAS, reflecting the exceptional individual talents within t he group, Amber Lowe17 earned the award for Best Vocal Percussionist, and Elise Lloyd received Best Soloist; and18 WHEREAS, the ensemble, comprised of Amber Lowe, Marcus Ladden Jr., Jeremiah McCall,19 Javion Crenshaw, Mathew Marquina, Kristopher Hendricks, Nathan Iles, Andrew Bodrick,20 Deanna Edmond, Gabriella Umanzor-Silva, Charli Glenn, Sydney Gruver, Audrey Schohan,21 Elise Lloyd, Elena Higgins, Audrey Curtis, and Devyn Blocker, p reformed with artistry,22 precision, and passion, earning praise from judges and audiences across the nation; and23 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Sonic Edge exemplify the success that can be achieved24 when students, educators, and administrators work together in pursuit of artistic excellence;25 and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing group of young27 performers, their coach, and their school leaders be recognized for the pride they have28 brought to their school, community, and the State of Georgia.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body congratulate Sonic Edge of Pebblebrook High School for winning31 the 2025 International Championship of High School A Cappella, recognize Mr. David32 Rosenthal and Dr. Dana Giles for their leadership and commitmen t to the arts, and extend33 best wishes for continued success. 34 H.
