A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 3, 2026, as Georgia Utility Contractors As sociation Legislative1
Awareness Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association is a 55-ye ar old non-profit trade3
association representing the underground utility construction i ndustry with the mission of4
promoting safety and responsible installation of new and rehabi litation of existing5
underground utility infrastructure to consist of water, sewer, gas, electrical,6
telecommunications, water and wastewater treatment plants, dams and landfills; and7
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association brings the underground utility8
construction industry, policymakers and stakeholders together as they focus on long-range9
underground utility infrastructure development, encouraging adequate government services,10
catalyzing consensus on damage prevention issues, and convening discussion on responsible11
and safe installation; and12
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association is compose d of a diverse13
membership of recognized licensed utility contractors, site dev elopers, engineers, heavy14

equipment dealers, equipment suppliers, law firms, insurance bonding agents, and anyone15
with an interest in underground utility contracting in Georgia; and16
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association delivers this mission through the17
platforms of advocacy, education, and information by working wi th thousands of elected18
officials, administrators, and professional staff of all local governments and stakeholders,19
along with state agencies and legislative and executive leadership; and20
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association is committ ed to the mission of21
promoting safe and responsible installation and is proactively involved in the formulation of22
policy and legislation critical to the utility construction industry by addressing safety issues;23
regulatory compliance; and, underground utility infrastructure needs within this state; and24
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association continues to increase its influence25
among stakeholders, policymakers and elected officials statewide; and26
WHEREAS, the Georgia Utility Contractors Association will host its annual "Georgia Utility27
Contractors Association Legislative Awareness Day" on February 3, 2026, in order to bring28
awareness of the need for safety in the industry and resonate that message to members of the29
Georgia General Assembly and to allow interaction with policymakers at the state level.30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body31
recognize February 3, 2026, as Georgia Utility Contractors Asso ciation Legislative32
Awareness Day at the state capitol and commend the Georgia Utility Contractors Association33
for its efforts in promoting safe and responsible installation of underground utilities in the34
state of Georgia.35

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed36
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Georgia Utility37
Contractors Association.38
