26 LC 129 0725 House Resolution 1139 By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Scott of the 76th, and Davis of the 87th A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 4, 2026, as City of Hapeville Day at the Georgia State Capitol; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is a historic and vibrant small city located just south of3 downtown Atlanta and adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int ernational Airport, the4 world's busiest airport, and is home to approximately 6,500 residents; and5 WHEREAS, founded in the late nineteenth century as a railroad and industrial hub, Hapeville6 has deep roots in transportation and manufacturing that played a significant role in shaping7 the economic growth of the Atlanta region and the State of Georgia; and8 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville was once home to the Ford Motor Company Assembly9 Plant, a landmark of Georgia's industrial history, which has been thoughtfully reimagined as10 the Porsche Cars North America Headquarters, symbolizing the city's ability to honor its past11 while embracing innovation and global economic leadership; and12 WHEREAS, over time, Hapeville has evolved into a thriving cente r for arts, culture, and13 creative placemaking, while preser ving the close-knit character and civic pride of a14 hometown community; and15 H. R. 1139 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0725 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is widely recognized for its walkable downtown, historic16 neighborhoods, and one of the most robust public art initiative s of any small city in the17 nation, with murals, sculptures, and artistic installations woven throughout the community18 to reflect its unique identity and shared sense of place; and19 WHEREAS, Hapeville regularly hosts festivals, concerts, and cul tural events that bring20 residents and visitors together and exemplify the city's spirit of engagement, collaboration,21 and connection; and22 WHEREAS, as part of the Atlanta Aerotropolis, the City of Hapeville is uniquely positioned23 at the intersection of history and growth, leveraging its strategic location while investing in24 forward-looking initiatives that enhance economic opportunity, community vitality, and25 quality of life for its residents; and26 WHEREAS, the citizens and leadership of the City of Hapeville continue to demonstrate a27 strong commitment to civic engagement, cultural enrichment, and responsible growth that28 contributes to the overall strength of the State of Georgia.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body recognize March 4, 2026, as City of Hapeville Day at the Capitol,31 and commend the City of Hapeville for its historical significan ce, cultural leadership, and32 continued contributions to the state of Georgia.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the35 Mayor and City Council of the City of Hapeville.36 H.
