26 LC 129 0617 House Resolution 1135 By: Representatives Mitchell of the 88th, Davis of the 87th, Holcomb of the 101st, Drenner of the 85th, and Barnes of the 86th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and honoring the City of Tucker, Georgia, on the oc casion of its 10th1 anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the City of Tucker, Georgia, was officially incorporated on November 3, 2015,3 following approval by referendum of its residents, thereby beco ming one of the newest4 municipalities in DeKalb County and the State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, since its incorporation, the City of Tucker has embodied the principles of local6 self-governance, civic engagement, and responsible stewardship, reflecting the determination7 and vision of its citizens; and8 WHEREAS, the City of Tucker is grounded in a rich history of commerce, transportation,9 faith communities, and civic involvement and has built upon tha t legacy to promote10 economic development, enhance public safety, improve infrastruc ture, and expand11 recreational and cultural opportunities; and12 WHEREAS, during its first decade, the City of Tucker has demons trated steady progress13 through thoughtful planning, collaborative leadership, and a co ntinued commitment to14 H. R. 1135 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0617 improving the quality of life for its residents while preservin g the character of its15 neighborhoods; and16 WHEREAS, the success of the City of Tucker is due in large meas ure to the dedicated17 service of its mayor and city council, past and present, city staff, volunteers, business leaders,18 and engaged residents who have worked collectively to advance t he city's growth and19 prosperity; and20 WHEREAS, the 10th anniversary of the City of Tucker provides a fitting opportunity to21 recognize its accomplishments, commend its leadership and citizens, and acknowledge its22 contributions to DeKalb County and the state of Georgia.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and honor the City of Tucker, Georgia, on the occasion25 of its 10th anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success, progress, and service26 to its citizens.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the29 officials of the City of Tucker.30 H.
