26 LC 129 0733 House Resolution 1173 By: Representatives Jones of the 47 th, Erwin of the 32 nd, Rice of the 139 th, Ballard of the 147th, Hilton of the 48th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 18, 2026, as Early Childhood Education Day at the state capitol; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, early childhood educators, child care providers, and p rogram administrators3 across Georgia play an essential role in supporting working fam ilies and nurturing the4 healthy development, learning, and well-being of young children; and5 WHEREAS, the Georgia Child Care Association, in partnership wit h families and6 community organizations state wide, seeks to highlight and honor the dedication,7 professionalism, and impact of those who deliver early learning and care services throughout8 the state; and9 WHEREAS, research consistently demonstrates that high-quality early childhood education10 strengthens school readiness, improves literacy outcomes, increases long-term educational11 attainment, and contributes to a stronger workforce and economy; and12 WHEREAS, Georgia's network of licensed early childhood educatio n programs serves13 hundreds of thousands of children and provides critical support for children's14 social-emotional development, mental health, and overall family stability; and15 H. R. 1173 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0733 WHEREAS, the experiences children have from birth through early childhood lay the16 foundation for lifelong learning and success, and sustained public and community investment17 in early care and education is vital to the future prosperity of the state of Georgia.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body designate February 18, 2026, as Early Childhood Education Day20 at the state capitol and recognize the invaluable contributions of early childhood educators,21 administrators, and staff for their commitment to excellence an d service to Georgia's22 families.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage continued24 collaboration among policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders to strengthen access25 to high-quality early childhood education and to promote the long-term sustainability of these26 essential programs.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution he public29 and the press.30 H.
