A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Roberta Ravold Barr; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Roberta Ravold Barr on January 9, 2026; and3
WHEREAS, Roberta Ravold Barr was born on November 15, 1950, on Long Island, New4
York, a beloved daughter of Henry Walter Ravold and Barbara Schwarz Ravold; and5
WHEREAS, Roberta Ravold Barr pursued her passion for education by attending Georgia6
College in Milledgeville, where she earned a Bachelor of Educat ion and later a Master's7
Degree in Education from University of Georgia; and8
WHEREAS, in her adult life, she served her community with distinction for over thirty years9
with the Houston County Board of Education before retiring and then going back into10
teaching for another nineteen years; and11
WHEREAS, outside of education, Roberta Ravold Barr had a deep appreciation for God's12
creation faithfully serving in the Church in Orchard in Fort Va lley and on mission trips13
throughout the Americas; and14

WHEREAS, she was united in love and m arriage to her husband, Br uce Barr, and was15
blessed with outstanding grandchildren and a remarkable daughter, Janna Barr Hayes; and 16
WHEREAS, Roberta Ravold Barr will long be remembered for her th oughtful, wise, and17
generous gestures, as well as for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be18
missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Roberta Ravold Barr and21
express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the24
family of Roberta Ravold Barr.25
