A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of February 2-6, 2026, as National School Counseling Week; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, National School Counseling Week focuses on increasing public attention on the3
unique contributions school counselors make by helping students achieve success in school4
and plan for the future; and5
WHEREAS, this week highlights the enormous impact that school c ounselors make in6
helping students reach their goals; and7
WHEREAS, school counselors are employed in public and private schools to help students8
reach their full potential and are actively committed to helpin g students explore their9
interests, abilities, strengths, and talents relating to development and career awareness; and 10
WHEREAS, school counselors help parents focus on ways to furthe r the educational,11
personal, and social growth of their children and work with teachers and other educators to12
help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and13

WHEREAS, school counselors seek to identify and utilize communi ty resources that can14
enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs to help students15
become productive members of society; and16
WHEREAS, comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of17
the educational process, which enables all students to achieve success in school.18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19
recognize the week of February 2-6, 2026, as National School Counseling Week.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia22
School Counselor Association.23
