26 LC 129 0632 House Resolution 1168 By: Representatives Carter of the 93rd, Paris of the 142nd, Beckles of the 96th, Berry of the 56th, and Holly of the 116th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Evelyn Sermons upon her retirement; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Evelyn Sermons has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the2 vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare3 of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,5 talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced6 dramatically by her superlative service to Morehouse College; and7 WHEREAS, Evelyn Sermons began her career at Morehouse College in September 2000 in8 the Department of Sociology; and 9 WHEREAS, demonstrating her deep commitment to personal and prof essional growth,10 Evelyn Sermons advanced through multiple administrate roles in the Public Health Services11 Institute; and12 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high13 ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom14 H. R. 1168 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0632 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved15 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and16 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for17 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and18 WHEREAS, Evelyn Sermons has served with honor and distinction w ith Morehouse19 College, and her reliability, institutional knowledge, and unwa vering professionalism will20 be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this22 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and commend Evelyn Sermons f o r h e r e f f i c i e n t ,25 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate her26 upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for27 continued health and happiness.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Evelyn Sermons.31 H.
