26 LC 129 0824 House Resolution 1160 By: Representative Draper of the 90th A RESOLUTION Commemorating Imam Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership and ac knowledging the1 Masjid's more than six decades of service to the people of Atlanta and the State of Georgia;2 and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, established in 1958, is one of Atlanta's longest4 standing faith and community institutions, with a continuous record of service in spiritual5 leadership, education, youth development, and community stability; and6 WHEREAS, The Masjid's serves a historic role in strengthening f amilies, mentoring7 generations of young people, supporting vulnerable populations, and fostering civic8 responsibility and peaceful coexistence in Atlanta; and9 WHEREAS, Imam Sulaimaan Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership are marked by moral10 guidance, community stewardship, interfaith engagement, and out reach initiatives that11 contribute to the social, civic, and cultural well being of Georgia's citizens; and12 WHEREAS, with Imam Abdul-Hamed's steady presence of faith and principled leadership,13 the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam continues to serve as a trusted anchor in Atlanta, working14 H. R. 1160 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0824 collaboratively with neighbors, civic partners, and faith commu nities to promote peace,15 understanding, and the overall well being of the community; and16 WHEREAS, his leadership reflects a consistent commitment to uni ty, dignity, and shared17 responsibility among the people of Atlanta.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body recognize Imam Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership and20 acknowledge the Masjid's more than six decades of service to the State of Georgia.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Imam23 Abdul-Hamed and The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam.24 H.
