26 LC 129 0778 House Resolution 1170 By: Representatives Crawford of the 89th, Griffin of the 149th, Sampson of the 153rd, Reese of the 140th, and Willis of the 55th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 10, 2026, as Omega Day at the Georgia State Capitol; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded on November 17 , 1911, at Howard3 University, holds the distinction of being the first African-American Greek-letter fraternity4 established at a Historically Black College or University; and5 WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has, for more than a century, demonstrated an6 unwavering commitment to leadership, scholarship, community Uplift, and civic engagement7 across the nation and throughout the State of Georgia; and8 WHEREAS, members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., across the State of Georgia, under9 the leadership of Omega Psi Phi Georgia State Representative Ti mothy Block, annually10 convene in the State Capitol City of Atlanta for a Legislative Workshop designed to11 strengthen their role as advocates for critical urban, rural, f amily, military, and collegiate12 legislative issues; and13 WHEREAS, this annual gathering provides an opportunity for Omega men to meet with key14 legislation sponsors and co-sponsors to receive updates, exchan ge ideas, and develop15 H. R. 1170 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0778 strategies for how the fraternity can continue to play a meaningful role in shaping policy and16 supporting communities throughout Georgia; and17 WHEREAS, the 2026 Omega Day at the Capitol will be observed on Tuesday, February 10,18 2026, marking a significant occasion to recognize the fraternity's contributions to the State19 of Georgia and its continued dedication to legislative engageme nt and community20 advancement.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body recognize and commend Omega Psi Phi Fr aternity, Inc., for its23 continued civic progress and human welfare advocacy at Omega Da y at the Capitol and24 extend best wishes for a productive and impactful Legislative W orkshop and continued25 service to the citizens of Georgia.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body recognize February 10, 2026,27 as Omega Day at the Georgia State Capitol.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.31 H.
