26 LC 129 0651 Senate Resolution 665 By: Senators Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Howard of the 35th, Dixon of the 45th, Albers of the 56th and Robertson of the 29th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 5, 2025, as D ental Hygienists Appreciation Day; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, dental hygienists, as licensed oral health care profes sionals, have been3 promoting oral health and preventing oral disease in Georgia for more than 75 years; and4 WHEREAS, dental hygienists, as preventive specialists, contribu te to the oral and total5 health of Georgia residents as well as provide essential servic es and education to prevent6 disease; and7 WHEREAS, regular preventive checkups and cleanings, brushing an d flossing, eating a8 well-balanced diet, and monitoring gums for signs of gum disease are basic steps to ensuring9 good oral hygiene and care; and10 WHEREAS, many dental hygienists voluntarily give of their time and talent to provide11 educational and preventive oral health care services to special needs groups such as the12 elderly, people with disabilities, and the underprivileged; and13 S. R. 665 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0651 WHEREAS, dental hygienists are essential in dental offices, public health facilities, schools,14 private organizations, and research facilities to provide the b est oral health care for all15 citizens.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body17 recognize February 5, 2025, as Dental Hygienists Appreciation Day at the state capitol and18 encourage our citizens to honor dental hygienists for the vital services they provide in19 maintaining good oral hygiene and dental health.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Dental22 Hygienists' Association.23 S.
