26 LC 129 0723 Senate Resolution 681 By: Senators Dolezal of the 27th, Dickerson of the 21st, Strickland of the 42nd, Watson of the 1st, Albers of the 56th and others A RESOLUTION Commending Special Agent Marvin O. “Dell” Spry, FBI, retired; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Special Agent Marvin O. Spry served as the lead investigator for the FBI in the2 case with uncovered, and lead to the conviction of, Aldrich Ames, a high-ranking CIA officer3 and spy for the Soviet Union; earning him the nickname “The Spy Catcher”; and4 WHEREAS, Special Agent Spry served as a liaison to the CIA, spe cializing in5 counterintelligence and counterespionage, and received the FBI Director’s Award for6 Excellence and the CIA Director’s Meritorious Service Award for his work; and7 WHEREAS, Special Agent Spry successfully completed and retired form his illustrious 20-8 year career with the FBI in 2006; and9 WHEREAS, as a senior management consultant and instructor for A -T Solution and an10 instructor at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he continu es to train FBI personnel,11 consult on intelligence and national security matters, and secure our country against foreign12 threats and espionage.13 S. R. 681 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0723 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body14 commend retired Supervisory Special Agent and counterintelligence expert of the Federal15 Bureau of Investigation, Dell Spry for his illustrious, highly successful career and for leading16 the investigation to identify and capture Aldrich Ames, the most notorious traitor, and spy17 for the Soviet Union, in the history of the Central Intelligence Agency.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed19 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Special Agent20 Marvin O. “Dell” Spry, FBI, retired.21 S.
