26 LC 129 0675 House Resolution 1197 By: Representatives Seabaugh of the 34th, Wilkerson of the 38th, Parsons of the 44th, Cooper of the 45th, Ridley of the 22nd, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing Gas South upon its 20th anniversary; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Gas South proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary as a trusted natural gas2 provider, having opened its doors on January 5, 2006, in Atlant a, Georgia, under the3 ownership of parent company Cobb EMC; and4 WHEREAS, since its founding, Gas South has grown from serving 1 68,000 customers to5 nearly half a million customers in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, with a6 footprint that now spans 17 states in competitive natural gas m arkets throughout the7 Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest; and8 WHEREAS, Gas South has earned the distinction of being Georgia's top-rated natural gas9 provider, boasting an impressive 4.7-star average on Google with more than 5,000 customer10 reviews; and11 WHEREAS, beyond its business success, Gas South takes pride in a company culture rooted12 in caring for customers and employees while elevating its industry and communities; and13 WHEREAS, from its humble beginnings with 36 employees, Gas Sout h has been a14 significant job creator, now employing well over 400 people acr oss offices in Atlanta,15 H. R. 1197 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0675 Georgia; Gainesville, Florida; and Norfolk, Virginia, and was recently recognized as one of16 Atlanta's top 20 companies to work for; and17 WHEREAS, at the heart of Gas South's purpose, “To Be A Fuel For Good,” is its pledge to18 give back 5 percent of annual profits to youth in need, resulti ng in over $26 million19 contributed to the communities it serves and creating impact far beyond energy.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and congratulate Gas South o n its 20th anniversary;22 commend its dedication to excellence, community impact, and employee care; and wish the23 company continued success in fueling progress, purpose, and possibility for the next 20 years24 and beyond.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gas27 South.28 H.
