26 LC 129 0572 Senate Resolution 682 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Orrock of the 36th, Kemp of t he 38th, McLaurin of the 14th, Jones II of the 22nd and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Raising Expectations; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Raising Expectations will be celebrating 30 years of d edicated community2 service, empowering and supporting youth facing significant sys temic and economic3 challenges; and4 WHEREAS, under the guiding hand and sustained leadership of co- founders Maria5 Armstrong and Tangee Allen, this outstanding non-profit organization has served over 3,5006 youth, all of whom qualify for free or reduced price meals and are first-generation college7 students; and8 WHEREAS, Raising Expectations delivers a comprehensive continuu m of academic,9 leadership, and college-to-career programming designed to support students over multiple10 years and through key life transitions; and11 WHEREAS, Rising Expectations’ core programing focuses on sustained, month-by-month12 engagement, following students from middle school through college and transition into the13 workforce; and14 S. R. 682 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0572 WHEREAS, in addition to core programs, Raising Expectations offers enrichment initiatives15 including the Summer Pathfinder Workforce Programs, the Real Estate Enrichment Program,16 Take a Student to College Day, and literacy programs, expanding access to experiences and17 opportunities often unavailable to students from under-resourced communities; and 18 WHEREAS, this remarkable organization's work strengthens not only individual students,19 but families, neighborhoods, and the broader Atlanta community; and20 WHEREAS, Raising Expectations' legacy is defined by its belief in what is possible when21 youth are met with consistency, care, and high expectations—and by its continued22 commitment to fueling the future, one student at a time.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 congratulate Rising Expectations upon 30 years of impact, comme nd it for its many25 outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of Georgia, and extend best wishes for its26 continued growth, development, and success.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Rising29 Expectations.30 S.
