26 LC 129 0806 Senate Resolution 676 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th, Parent of the 44th and Anderson of the 43rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Clayton County Democratic Commit tee; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Clayton County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is the county affiliate of3 the Democratic Party of Georgia, representing a diverse, dynamic, and politically engaged4 community in the southern Atlanta metropolitan area; and 5 WHEREAS, serving residents of Jonesboro, Forest Park, Lake City , Lovejoy, Riverdale,6 College Park, and Morrow, the CCDC has played a central role in voter education, grassroots7 organizing, leadership development, and advocacy, helping to shape Clayton County into one8 of Georgia's most politically engaged and civically active communities; and9 WHEREAS, the Clayton County Democratic Committee played a signi ficant and historic10 role in securing President Joe Biden's victory in Georgia in th e 2020 presidential election;11 its sustained efforts contributed to historic voter turnout in Clayton County, underscoring the12 importance of local organizing in achieving statewide civic participation; and13 WHEREAS, the Committee coordinates voter registration drives, c andidate forums, issue14 based discussions, and election day mobilization efforts, as we ll as supports affiliated15 S. R. 676 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0806 Democratic clubs and caucuses such as the Clayton County Federa tion of Democratic16 Women and Young Democrats of Clayton County that foster leaders hip development and17 civic participation among women, young people, and other engaged constituencies; and18 WHEREAS, as Clayton County continues to grow and evolve, the Cl ayton County19 Democratic Committee remains committed to expanding democratic participation and20 building political power rooted in community engagement; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the remarkable accomplishments of22 the Clayton County Democratic Committee.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 recognize and commend the Clayton County Democratic Committee f or serving as a vital25 force in Georgia politics and extend best wishes for continued growth and success.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Clayton28 County Democratic Committee.29 S.
