A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending the United Service Organizations; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the United Service Organizations (USO) will be celebra ting the 85th2
anniversary of its founding on February 4, 2026; and3
WHEREAS, founded in 1941 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, th e USO is a private,4
congressionally chartered nonprofit uniting six agencies, YMCA,YWCA, National Catholic5
Community Service, the Salvation Army, the National Jewish Welfare Board, and Travelers6
Aide, to form the independent organization that serves as the nation's leading organization7
supporting the men and women of the United States military and their families, with a8
mission to strengthen the well-being of the people serving in A merica's military and their9
families; and10
WHEREAS, from the moment service members join the military, through their assignments11
and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO remains by their12
side throughout their time in uniform; and 13

WHEREAS, the USO's leadership, volunteers, and donors are unite d by a shared14
commitment to service and devote countless hours, resources, an d talents to connecting15
service members and their families to the nation's gratitude, support, and communities; and16
WHEREAS, today's USO continuously adapts to the evolving needs of the men and women17
in uniform and their families by operating centers, programs, and expeditionary services at18
or near military installations across the United States and aro und the world, including in19
combat zones and unstaffed service sites; and 20
WHEREAS, in the State of Georgia, the USO provides programs, services, and expeditionary21
support at Fort Benning, Fort Stewart, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, The22
Georgia National Guard, and outreach to all Military Installations in Georgia to include Fort23
Gordon, Robins AFB, Dobbins AFB, Moody AFB, Albany Marine Corps Logistics, Kings24
Bay Naval Submarine Base and Hunter Army Airfield; and 25
WHEREAS, during times of national crisis, including the events of September 11, 2001,26
natural disasters, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the USO has remai ned steadfast in its27
mission, providing critical care and support to United States s ervice members, including28
members of the Georgia National Guard; and 29
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this30
extraordinary nonprofit organization be appropriately recognized. 31
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body32
congratulate the United Service Organizations for 85 years of dedicated service, commend33
it for its many outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of Georgia, and extend best34
wishes for its continued growth, development, and success.35

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Secretary of the S enate is authorized36
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the37
United Service Organizations. 38
