26 LC 129 0715 House Resolution 1191 By: Representatives Flournoy of the 74th, Kahaian of the 81st, Holly of the 116th, Douglas of the 78th, and Santos of the 117th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Richard Storer; and for other purposes.1 W H E R E A S , R i c h a r d S t o r e r , a 9 2 - y e a r - o l d c l o c k m a k e r a n d r e p a i r m an from Hampton,2 Georgia, has preserved and perfected the rare craft of clock making and repair; and 3 WHEREAS, Mr. Storer first became interested in clock making and repair during his4 courageous service with the United States Navy from 1952 to 1974, while stationed with a5 friend who collected clocks; and 6 WHEREAS, for 62 years Mr. Storer has worked with precision, pat ience, and tireless7 dedication to the perfection of the art of clock making and rep air, working on countless8 clocks, including one built in 1737 and his most recent work th at can been seen in Gray's9 Jewelers and Optical Workshop in McDonough; and10 WHEREAS, previously owning and operating a small shop in Jonesb oro, Mr. Storer now11 does his handiwork in the upstairs attic of his home; and 12 H. R. 1191 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0715 WHEREAS, eager to pass along to others his knowledge of the uni que and needed clock13 repair and making business, Mr. Storer meets with a group of me n who desire to be clock14 makers once a week; and 15 WHEREAS, there are few expert clock technicians who diligently and carefully apply their16 knowledge and love to this special repair art; Mr. Storer exemplifies those qualities; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the k nowledge, steady hands,18 and dedication to craft of this remarkable and distinguished master clock repairman.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body recognize and commend Richard Storer for preserving the art of21 clock making and repair as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for his continued22 health and happiness.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Richard Storer.26 H.
