A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Andruw Jones upon his induction to t he National Baseball1
Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Andruw Jones, born on April 23, 1977, in Willemstad, C uraçao, has3
consistently demonstrated extraordinary skill, leadership, and talent throughout his illustrious4
baseball career; and5
WHEREAS, by the age of 11, Jones was on a youth select baseball team that traveled to6
Japan to play internationally; and7
WHEREAS, Jones signed with the Atlanta Braves as a free agent at the age of 16, and played8
with Danville of the Appalachian League, the Gulf Coast League Braves, and Class-A9
Macon; and10
WHEREAS, he made his MLB debut during the 1996 season with the Atlanta Braves; and11
WHEREAS, at the 1996 World Series he became the youngest player ever to hit a home run12
in the postseason, and the second player ever to home run in hi s first two World Series13
at-bats; and14

WHEREAS, in honor of his legacy, his number, 25, was retired by the Atlanta Braves on15
September 9, 2023; and 16
WHEREAS, induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame is one of the highest honors17
a baseball player can receive, recognizing not only exceptional athletic achievements but also18
a lasting impact on the sport.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20
the members of this body recognize and commend Andruw Jones upon his induction to the21
National Baseball Hall of Fame.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to24
Andruw Jones.25
