26 LC 129 0898 House Resolution 1217 By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Davis of the 87th, Scott of the 76th, and Burnough of the 77th A RESOLUTION Recognizing CBS Atlanta (WUPA-TV) for outstanding public service in honor of Georgia1 Severe Weather Preparation Week; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Georgia Severe Weather Preparation Week is observed annually to encourage3 residents, families, schools, and businesses to prepare for sev ere weather events including4 tornadoes, floods, thunderstorms, and extreme heat; and5 WHEREAS, timely, accurate, and accessible weather information is essential to protecting6 lives and property during severe weather emergencies; and7 WHEREAS, WUPA-TV, known as CBS Atlanta, provides critical weath er coverage and8 emergency communications to millions of Georgians through compr ehensive forecasting,9 continuous monitoring, and clear, reliable reporting; and10 WHEREAS, the meteorology team at CBS Atlanta (WUPA-TV) plays a vital role in11 educating the public on severe weather risks, emergency prepare dness, and response12 strategies, helping communities make informed and potentially life-saving decisions; and13 H. R. 1217 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0898 WHEREAS, through advanced forecasting technology, community outreach, and a strong14 commitment to public service journalism, CBS Atlanta (WUPA-TV) serves as a trusted15 partner to state and local emergency management agencies and first responders; and16 WHEREAS, the professionalism, dedication, and service demonstra ted by CBS Atlanta17 (WUPA-TV) exemplify the highest standards of broadcast journali sm and contribute18 significantly to the safety, resilience, and preparedness of co mmunities across the State of19 Georgia.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body commend and recognize CBS Atlanta (WUP A-TV) for its22 outstanding contributions to pub lic safety and preparedness in honor of Georgia Severe23 Weather Preparation Week.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to CBS26 Atlanta (WUPA-TV).27 H.
