26 LC 129 0759 House Resolution 1222 By: Representatives Smith of the 70th, Bonner of the 73rd, Jenkins of the 136th, Glaize of the 67th, and Dawson of the 65th A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating the Newnan Kiwanis Club upon its 100th anniversary; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Newnan Kiwanis Club was originated by Dr. Thomas Bailey and sponsored3 by the Atlanta Kiwanis Club in 1925; and4 WHEREAS, since 1947, the Newnan Kiwanis Club, with Coweta Count y and the5 Cattlemen's Association, has sponsored the Coweta County Fair; and6 WHEREAS, in 2001, the first Kiwa nis Coweta County Fair was held at a new location7 purchased by the Newnan Kiwanis Club and deeded to Coweta County; and 8 WHEREAS, since moving to the new location, the Newnan Kiwanis Club has used proceeds9 generated at the annual fair to provide donations, grants, and funds for numerous local10 501(c)3 charities totaling over $5.8 million; and11 WHEREAS, in 2025 alone, the total amount given back to the loca l community was12 $300,000 to 58 different organizations including Meals on Wheels of Coweta County, Boy13 Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Club of Newnan, Bridging the Gap, Brown's Mill14 H. R. 1222 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0759 Battlefield Association, Christian City Children's Village, Com munities in Schools,15 CORRAL, Coweta CASA, Coweta County 4-H, Coweta County Special Olympics, FERST16 Foundation, Guitars Not Guns, Coweta Samaritan Clinic, Fellowship of Christian Athletes,17 Coweta STEM Institute, Family Patterns Matter, Georgia Sheriffs Youth Home, Angel's18 House, Newnan-Coweta Distinguished Young Women, Carnegie Founda tion, Newnan19 Continental Society, Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity, Newnan -Coweta Youth20 Association, One Roof, Patrons of the Centre, Puddle Jumpers, Purified Living Ministries,21 River of Life, Rutledge Center, SAFE, Society of St. Vincent de P a u l , S o l e s f o r C o l e ,22 Stepping Stones, University of West Georgia, and Summit Family YMCA; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding contributions of24 the Newnan Kiwanis Club upon this historic and monumental anniversary.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body commend the Newnan Kiwanis Club on beh alf of the state of27 Georgia, congratulate it upon its 100th anniversary, and extend sincere best wishes for28 continued growth and success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31 Newnan Kiwanis Club. 32 H.
