26 LC 129 0875 House Resolution 1211 By: Representatives Moore of the 91st, Carter of the 93rd, Kendrick of the 95th, and Davis of the 87th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Councilwoman Alecia Washington on her outstanding public1 service; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Alecia Washington has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the3 vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare4 of the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,6 talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced7 dramatically by her tireless dedication to promoting the safety , health, security, peace and8 general welfare of all Stonecrest residents; and9 WHEREAS, she has committed herself to enhancing the community of Stonecrest through10 ongoing community outreach programs, social work, mentoring, counseling, volunteering,11 community service, as well as food and clothes distributions, h ousing initiatives, and12 resource programs to more than 10,000 residents through her non-profit organization, City13 of Hope Safe Haven; and14 H. R. 1211 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0875 WHEREAS, She has partnered with other community-focused, highly reputable15 organizations, including the Department of Homeland Security's Community Emergency16 Response Team, The Los Angeles Dream Center, American Associati on of Christian17 Counselors, Government Procurement Innovators, New Birth Missio nary Baptist Church,18 National Action Network, and The New Black Wall Street Market to bring about positive,19 civic change in Stonecrest; and20 WHEREAS, Alecia Washington's significant organizational and lea dership talents,21 remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the22 citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admirati on of her colleagues and23 associates; and24 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for25 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and26 WHEREAS, Alecia Washington's vision and unyielding commitment to City of Stonecrest27 has set the standard for public service; and28 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this29 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31 the members of this body recognize and commend Alecia Washingto n for her efficient,32 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most33 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.34 H.
