26 LC 44 3267/AP House Bill 1172 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Camp of the 135th and Mathiak of the 82nd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To authorize the assessment and collection of a technology fee by the Magistrate Court of1 Spalding County; to identify the authorized uses of such techno logy fee; to provide for2 related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:4 SECTION 1.5 (a) The clerk of the Magistrate Court of Spalding County is hereby authorized to charge and6 collect a technology fee to be set by the judge of the magistra te court in an amount not to7 exceed $15.00 for the filing of each civil action with the court and not to exceed $15.00 as8 a surcharge upon each fine assessed by the court. Such technol ogy fees shall be used9 exclusively to provide for technological needs of the Magistrate Court of Spalding County.10 Such uses shall include only the following:11 (1) Computer hardware, software, and accessory purchases;12 (2) Lease, maintenance, and installation of computer hardware;13 (3) Purchase, lease, maintenance, and installation of audio-vi sual, imaging, scanning,14 facsimile, communications, projection, recording, and printing equipment and software;15 and16 H. B. 1172 - 1 - 26 LC 44 3267/AP (4) Procurement of technical support services.17 (b) Funds collected pursuant to this section shall be maintained in a segregated account by18 the clerk of the magistrate court and shall be used only for th e purposes authorized in this19 section as directed by the chief judge of the court.20 SECTION 2.21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.22 H.
