26 LC 129 0830 Senate Resolution 687 By: Senator Howard of the 35th A RESOLUTION Recognizing the month of August 2026 as Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic Month; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, The Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Kickoff Classic will cele brate its 35th3 anniversary in 2026, marking more than three decades of excellence in high school football;4 and5 WHEREAS, legendary high school football coaches Corky Kell and Dave Hunter served as6 mentors and leaders, fostering a supportive, growth-focused env ironment that empowered7 student-athletes to succeed both on and off the field; and8 WHEREAS, Corky Kell and Dave Hunter shared a vision of bringing together the best high9 school football talent to compete in a premier kickoff classic for Georgia that would set the10 standard for the season; and11 WHEREAS, high school football instills character, discipline, leadership, and teamwork in12 young athletes; and13 S. R. 687 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0830 WHEREAS, high school football promotes physical fitness, resilience, school pride, and a14 strong sense of community; and15 WHEREAS, participation in high school football creates lifelong skills, meaningful16 relationships, and lasting bonds among players, families, and fans.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 recognize the month of August 2026 as Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic Month, in honor19 of its 35th anniversary and its enduring impact on student-athl etes, schools, and20 communities.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to Corky Kell and23 Dave Hunter.24 S.
