A RESOLUTION
Recognizing National School Counseling Week at the state capitol; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, National School Counseling Week focuses on increasing public attention on the2
unique contributions school counselors make by helping students achieve success in school3
and plan for the future; and4
WHEREAS, this week highlights the enormous impact that school c ounselors make in5
helping students reach their goals; and6
WHEREAS, school counselors are employed in public and private schools to help students7
reach their full potential and are actively committed to helpin g students explore their8
interests, abilities, strengths, and talents relating to development and career awareness; and 9
WHEREAS, school counselors help parents focus on ways to furthe r the educational,10
personal, and social growth of their children and work with teachers and other educators to11
help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and12

WHEREAS, school counselors seek to identify and utilize communi ty resources that can13
enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs to help students14
become productive members of society; and15
WHEREAS, comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of16
the educational process, which enables all students to achieve success in school.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18
the members of this body recognize National School Counseling Week at the state capitol.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the21
Georgia School Counselor Association. 22
