26 LC 129 0897 House Resolution 1214 By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Scott of the 76th, Davis of the 87th, and Burnough of the 77th A RESOLUTION Recognizing WXIA Atlanta for outstanding public service in hono r of Georgia Severe1 Weather Preparation Week; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Georgia Severe Weather Preparation Week is observed annually to encourage3 residents, families, schools, and businesses to prepare for sev ere weather events including4 tornadoes, floods, thunderstorms, and extreme heat; and5 WHEREAS, timely, accurate, and accessible weather information is essential to protecting6 lives and property during severe weather emergencies; and7 WHEREAS, WXIA Atlanta, also known as 11Alive, provides critical weather coverage and8 emergency communications to millions of Georgians through compr ehensive forecasting,9 continuous monitoring, and clear, reliable reporting; and10 WHEREAS, the meteorology team at WXIA Atlanta plays a vital role in educating the public11 on severe weather risks, emergency preparedness, and response s trategies, helping12 communities make informed and potentially life-saving decisions; and13 H. R. 1214 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0897 WHEREAS, through advanced forecasting technology, community outreach, and a strong14 commitment to public service journalism, WXIA Atlanta serves as a trusted partner to state15 and local emergency management agencies and first responders; and16 WHEREAS, the professionalism, dedication, and service demonstra ted by WXIA Atlanta17 exemplify the highest standards of broadcast journalism and contribute significantly to the18 safety, resilience, and preparedness of communities across the State of Georgia.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body commend and recognize WXIA Atlanta for its outstanding21 contributions to public safety and preparedness in honor of Geo rgia Severe Weather22 Preparation Week.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 WXIA Atlanta.26 H.
