26 LC 129 0790 House Resolution 1210 By: Representatives Reeves of the 99th, Williams of the 148th, Gullett of the 19th, Williamson of the 112th, Douglas of the 78th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and honoring Cindy Connelly for her distinguished service to the Credit Union1 Movement, her advocacy leadership at the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, and her decades2 of impact on federal, state, and local policy for credit unions; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the members of the Georgia House of Representatives wish to recognize and4 commend individuals whose exceptional leadership, advocacy, and professional service have5 had a profound and lasting impact on the economic and cooperative landscape of the State6 of Georgia; and7 WHEREAS, Cindy Connelly currently serves as Senior Vice Preside nt of Governmental8 Affairs and Outreach for Georgia United Credit Union in Duluth, Georgia, where her9 strategic leadership, commitment to member service, and deep un derstanding of public10 policy have strengthened Georgia United's ability to serve its members and communities; and11 WHEREAS, over more than four decades in the credit union movement, Cindy Connelly has12 dedicated her career to advancing the mission of credit unions and building enduring13 relationships with elected officials, regulators, and industry leaders on behalf of credit union14 members across Georgia and the United States; and15 H. R. 1210 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0790 WHEREAS, Cindy Connelly devoted decades of service to the Georg ia Credit Union16 Affiliates, where she led governmental affairs efforts and was widely regarded as a principal17 architect of Georgia's credit union advocacy strategy, strengthening the industry's voice and18 effectiveness at every level of government; and19 WHEREAS, through her advocacy leadership with the League and it s successor20 organizations, Cindy Connelly played a pivotal role in shaping public policy that protected21 cooperative financial institutions and helped people afford life, including her influential work22 with Congress driving the Credit Union Membership Access Act of 1998; and23 WHEREAS, her advocacy career has been marked by bipartisan respect and trust, enabling24 credit unions to engage collaboratively with policymakers and r egulators in pursuit of25 policies that benefit consumers, communities, and the broader economy; and26 WHEREAS, in recognition of her lifetime of service and leadersh ip, Cindy Connelly was27 inducted into America's Credit Union Museum's "Credit Union Wom en Making History -28 Herstory" exhibit in 2023, honoring her as a trailblazer whose contributions have left a29 lasting imprint on the credit union movement.30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31 the members of this body honor and commend Cindy Connelly for h er decades of32 distinguished service, her leadership in shaping effective advo cacy for her beloved credit33 union industry, and her enduring contributions to the economic and civic life of the State of34 Georgia.35 H.
