Brock, Jr., for a life of love, service, and extraordinary1 accomplishments; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Otis J. Brock, Jr., was born October 17, 1933, in Montezuma, Macon County,3 Georgia, to Otis J. Brock, Sr., and Ruby Brock; and 4 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to Annette Kennedy Brock and was the5 devoted father to Donna and Otis as well as the loving grandfather to Zuri, Zoe, and Elijah;6 and7 WHEREAS, Otis J. Brock, Jr., served honorably in the United Sta tes Army during the8 Korean War Era; and9 WHEREAS, he matriculated at Savannah State College where he was a proud member of10 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and 11 WHEREAS, he was a star basketball player at Savannah State Coll ege, coached by the12 legendary Theodore "Ted" Wright; and 13 H. R. 1220 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0907 WHEREAS, showcasing his extraordinary athletic ability, Otis J. Brock, Jr., was named14 All-SEAC from 1953-1956 and was the SEAC's most valuable player in 1955; and15 WHEREAS, for 30 years he was a pivotal educator and administrator in Savannah-Chatham16 County Public School System; and 17 WHEREAS, he was a teacher and coach at Sol C. Johnson High Scho ol in Savannah,18 Georgia; served as principal of Alfred Ely Beach High School for six years from 1971- 1976;19 and retired in 1986 as director of secondary education for Savannah-Chatham County Public20 School System; and21 WHEREAS, after retirement, he returned to Savannah State College, his beloved alma mater,22 to serve as the college's second women's volleyball coach, women's cross country coach, and23 as women's basketball coach; and 24 WHEREAS, his dedication aided the college, now Savannah State University, to make the25 transition from NCAA Division III athletics to NCAA Division II; and26 WHEREAS, Otis J. Brock, Jr., was a life-long, devoted member of Alpha Phi Alpha27 Fraternity, Inc.; National Association of Guardsmen; and Wolves Club; and 28 WHEREAS, Otis J. Brock, Jr. departed this life January 28, 2026, after a life of exemplary29 service to mankind and Savannah, Georgia.30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31 the members of this body commend Otis J. Brock, Jr., for his ma ny accomplishments,32 H. R. 1220 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0907 especially his service to education and young people in Savannah, Georgia, and express their33 deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized35 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the36 family of Otis J.
