26 LC 129 0794 Senate Resolution 697 By: Senators Burns of the 23rd, Williams of the 25th, Payne of the 54th, Howard of the 35th, Harrell of the 40th and others ADOPTED SENATE A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Jason Colbert and inviting him to appear before the Georgia1 Senate; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Jason Colbert is the state recipient of the Technical College System of Georgia's3 (TCSG) 2025 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the first program of its4 kind in the nation established to recognize outstanding technical college students; and 5 WHEREAS, the GOAL program brings together Georgia's business, g overnment, and6 industry leaders with the state's technical colleges to highlig ht the vital role technical7 education plays in Georgia's workforce development, economic prosperity and future; and8 WHEREAS, for more than five decades, the GOAL program has exemp lified a strong9 partnership among business, industry and higher education; and10 WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert was selected from among 22 TCSG college GOAL winners who11 demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and leadership at their respective technical12 colleges; and 13 S. R. 697 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0794 WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert, a nursing student from Southeastern Technical College, enrolled14 with a commitment to obtaining the high-quality education and training necessary to acquire15 the knowledge and skills required for success in his chosen profession; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert will serve as an ambassador for technical education in Georgia,17 representing more tha n 149,000 TCSG st udents who benefit from t echnical education18 programs offered at 22 colleges throughout the state; and19 WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert has brought honor to himself, his family, Southeastern Technical20 College, and the entire Technical College System of Georgia and stands as Georgia's21 outstanding technical college student for 2025.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23 commend and congratulate Jason Colbert for his technical colleg e achievements and his24 efforts to promote technical education in the State of Georgia.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Jason Colbert.27 S.
