26 LC 129 0837 Senate Resolution 703 By: Senators Rahman of the 5th, Anderson of the 43rd, Lucas of the 26th, Harbison of the 15th, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Phra Ajarn Maha Dam Phommasan; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Phra Ajarn Maha Dam Phommasan is a distinguished spiritual luminary who2 has served Gwinnettians with devotion at the Wat Lao Buddha Khanti Temple in Snellville,3 promoting the virtues of peace, benevolence, and compassion; and4 WHEREAS, Phra Ajarn Maha Dam Phommasan has devoted his time and talent to serving5 multiple establishmen ts throughout the metro Atlanta community, including Wat Lao6 Buddha Khanti, where he serves as a mentor to both elders and y outh by providing7 meditation sessions and Buddhist teachings; and8 WHEREAS, through his compassionate stewardship and tireless vol unteerism, he has9 empowered the local community and provided a source of wisdom a nd stability for those10 seeking spiritual enrichment and growth; and11 WHEREAS, in an effort to spread hope and mindfulness across the United States, he12 embarked on a noble 2,300-mile "Walk for Peace" pilgrimage alon gside fellow monks in13 November 2025; and14 S. R. 703 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0837 WHEREAS, On November 19, 2025, he was struck by a vehicle and injured during the walk,15 an ordeal he has faced with an indomitable spirit; and16 WHEREAS, Phra Ajarn Maha Dam Phommasan's resilience in the face of such hardship17 serves as an example of perseverance for our community and provides a powerful example18 of faith in action.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 recognize and commend Phra Ajarn Maha Dam Phommasan and extend their sincere best21 wishes for his recovery as well as future health and happiness.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Phra Ajarn Maha24 Dam Phommasan.25 S.
