26 LC 129 0873 House Resolution 1227 By: Representative Stephens of the 164th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Gasper Lazzara; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Dr. Gasper Lazzara has established a glowing reputation throughout the state2 of Georgia as the cofounder of the Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO); and3 WHEREAS, the GSO, founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2016, is an a ccredited, 36-month4 residency program focusing on specialized orthodontic education and patient-centered care;5 and6 WHEREAS, Dr. Lazzara is a Florida native and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from7 Emory University in 1966; and8 WHEREAS, he received his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from9 the American Association of Orthodontists Supervised Preceptorship Program in 1969; and10 WHEREAS, Dr. Lazzara joins GSO with more than 40 years of exper ience in the field of11 orthodontics, including maintaining private orthodontic practices for 25 years and serving12 as the founder, CEO, director, and chairman of the world’s largest orthodontic management13 company, Orthodontic Centers of America from 1985-2001; and14 H. R. 1227 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0873 WHEREAS, Dr. Lazzara retired as a Diplomat of the American Boar d of Orthodontics as15 well as a member of both the American Association of Orthodonti sts and the Southern16 Society of Orthodontists; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the achievements of this remarkable18 individual.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Gasper Lazza ra and extend their21 sincere best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.24 Gasper Lazzara.25 H.
