26 LC 52 0979 House Bill 1194 By: Representatives Leverett of the 123rd, Efstration of the 104th, and Williamson of the 112th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 33-1-24 of the Official Code of Georgia A nnotated, relating to1 insurance requirements for transportation network companies and their drivers, so as to2 clarify periods of time for transportation network company serv ices; to provide for a3 definition; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date and applicability;4 to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 Code Section 33-1-24 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance8 requirements for transportation network companies and their drivers, is amended by revising9 paragraph (5) of subsection (a) as follows:10 "(5) 'Transportation network company services' or 'services' means:11 (A) The period of time a driver is logged on to the transportation network company's12 digital network and available to accept a ride request until th e driver is logged off,13 except for that time period described in subparagraph (B) of this paragraph; and14 H. B. 1194 - 1 - 26 LC 52 0979 (B) The period of time a driver accepts a ride request rider occupies a vehicle during15 a ride requested on the transportation network company's digital network until the16 driver completes the transaction or the ride is complete, whichever is later.17 Transportation network company services shall not include transportation provided using18 a taxi, a limousine carrier as defined in Code Section 40-1-151 , or any other19 commercially registered motor vehicle and commercially licensed driver."20 SECTION 2.21 This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2026, and shall appl y to all policies issued,22 delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after such date.23 SECTION 3.24 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.25 H.
