26 LC 129 0872 House Resolution 1230 By: Representative Stephens of the 164th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Georgia School of Orthodontics; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO), founded in A tlanta, Georgia, in2 2016, is an accredited, 36-month residency program focusing on specialized orthodontic3 education and patient-centered care; and4 WHEREAS, the mission of GSO is to educate qualified dentists to become specialists in5 orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics with a commitment to e xcellence in6 patient-centered care, effective teaching, meaningful research and service to the community;7 and8 WHEREAS, recently, GSO announced the creation of the John Lewis Legacy Scholarships,9 an $8.5 million initiative honoring the late Congressman John Lewis; and10 WHEREAS, the historic program, developed in partnership with the John and Lillian Miles11 Lewis Foundation, will provide 47 three-year scholarships over 12 years, beginning August12 2025 with the first cohort of three recipients; and13 H. R. 1230 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0872 WHEREAS, GSO further serves the community through programs like “Gift of a Smile,”14 which provides free care to children, adults, and veterans; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the outstanding contributions of this16 extraordinary school.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize and commend the Georgia School of Orthodontics for19 training expert orthodontists while providing affordable, high-quality care to the citizens of20 the state of Georgia.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the23 Georgia School of Orthodontics.24 H.
