26 LC 129 0968 House Resolution 1258 By: Representatives Baker of the 64th, McQueen of the 61st, Alexander of the 66th, New of the 40th, and Berry of the 56th A RESOLUTION Commending Dr. Latoya Thomas, the Douglas County School System 2025-2026 Teacher1 of the Year; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most3 important objective of the General Assembly; and4 WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young5 people, and Dr. Latoya Thomas exemplifies the selfless dedication that is characteristic of6 our finest teachers; and7 WHEREAS, Dr. Latoya Thomas is a highly praised Information Tech nology teacher at8 Manchester High School, tirelessly directing an extraordinary a mount of time and talent9 toward guiding students to a brighter future; and10 WHEREAS, Dr. Latoya Thomas has earned distinction and numerous awards for teaching11 excellence as a result of her dedication to her students and he r profession and has been12 honored as the Douglas County School System 2025-2026 Teacher o f the Year, the 202413 Georgia Business Education Association Teacher of the Year, and the 2021 FBLA New14 Teacher of the Year; and15 H. R. 1258 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0968 WHEREAS, in recognition of such remarkable contributions to the education and welfare16 of Georgia's students, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the17 extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding educator.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body commend Dr. Latoya Thomas, the Douglas County School System20 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year, and express their most sincere b est wishes for continued21 success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.24 Latoya Thomas.25 H.
