26 LC 129 0956 House Resolution 1254 By: Representatives Tran of the 80th, Roberts of the 52nd, Lupton of the 83 rd, Hilton of the 48th, and Panitch of the 51st A RESOLUTION Recognizing the Tartan Trot; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Tartan Trot hosted by Saint Luke's Presbyterian Ch urch in Dunwoody,2 Georgia, celebrates the church's heritage in 16th century Scotland and the Reformation; and3 WHEREAS, the 20th annual Tartan Trot on February 7, 2026, will feature over 950 runners4 in addition to bagpipes, kilts, and homemade pies, raising significant funds for the local and5 global partners of Saint Luke's Presbyterian Church; and6 WHEREAS, funds raised are used for outreach efforts in Africa, Honduras, Guatemala,7 Mexico, the mountains in Tennessee and with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity,8 Stop Hunger Now, North Fulton/DeKalb Family Promise, and local shelters and food banks;9 and10 WHEREAS, in 2025, the race hosted more than 900 runners, raising more than $70,000 with11 generous donations from corporate and individual sponsors; and12 WHEREAS, the Tartan Trot offers 1 mile, 5K, and 10k run/walks w ith virtual options13 available to unite the community in faith, philanthropy, and activity.14 H. R. 1254 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0956 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15 the members of this body recognize the Tartan Trot and Saint Lu ke's Presbyterian Church16 for their commitment to serving the community and preserving Scottish heritage in the State17 of Georgia.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Saint20 Luke's Presbyterian Church.21 H.
