HR1255: HR1255 Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home; occasion of its 100th Anniversary; recognize

26 LC 129 0920 House Resolution 1255 By: Representative Ford of the 170th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home on the occasion1 of its 100th Anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home was founded in Tifton, Tift County,3 Georgia, in 1925 by Frank Thomas Nixon and Reverend Jake Parson under the name Nixon4 and Parson Undertaking Co.; and 5 WHEREAS, later the name would change to Nixon, Parson, and Wilson Undertaking Co.,6 Inc. with the addition of Matt Wilson to the business in 1927; and7 WHEREAS, these three gentlemen went into the business of servin g and building lasting8 relationships with African American families in Tift County and surrounding counties during9 one of the most challenging times of life– the loss of the loved one; and10 WHEREAS, after Reverend Parson moved to Florida and Matt Wilson passed away, both11 of their interests were purchased by Frank T. Nixon and his son , Solomon Nixon, Sr., and12 thereafter the name of the funeral home was Nixon & Son Funeral Home, and then ultimately13 changed to Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home; and14 H. R. 1255 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0920 WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home has remained a proud family-owned15 and operated business for 100 years; and16 WHEREAS, the funeral home has proudly operated through three generations of service with17 the dedicated efforts of Frank T. Nixon, Licensed Funeral Direc tor; Solomon Nixon, Sr.,18 Licensed Funeral Director and his wife, Ann Lovett Nixon, Licen sed Funeral Director; 19 Ronald Keith Nixon, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer; and Solomon Nixon, Jr.,20 Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer 21 WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home has provided comp assionate,22 professional, and dignified care to families during their most difficult times, guided by strong23 family values and an unwavering commitment to excellence; and 24 WHEREAS, the funeral home and The Nixon Family have faithfully served countless25 Georgia families with integrity, respect, and empathy, earning the trust of the community and26 establishing a lasting legacy of service and professionalism; and27 WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home and The Nixon Family have played28 an important role in the civic life of their community and Georgia by creating jobs, leading29 and supporting local organizations, serving on state and local governmental boards and30 commissions, participating in charitable and faith-based initiatives, and contributing to the31 economic and social well-being of the region and Georgia; and32 WHEREAS, achieving a 100-year milestone as a family-owned busin ess is a rare and33 noteworthy accomplishment that reflects perseverance, strong leadership, and the enduring34 support of the community it serves; and35 H. R. 1255 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0920 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize this historic milestone and commend Frank36 and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home and The Nixon Family for their exceptional service and37 lasting contributions to the State of Georgia.38 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that39 the members of this body body commend and congratulate The Nixon Family and Frank and40 Solomon Nixon Funeral Home on the celebration of its 100th anniversary and extend best41 wishes for continued success for generations to come42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized43 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Frank44 and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home.45 H.
