26 LC 65 0087S The House Committee on Education offers the following substitute to HB 1232: A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Subpart 2 of Part 1 of Article 16 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of1 Georgia Annotated, relating to compulsory attendance, so as to provide that certain students2 be excused from school for participating in certain officially sanctioned visits to the state3 capitol; to provide for a short title; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws;4 and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 Subpart 2 of Part 1 of Article 16 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of t he Official Code of Georgia8 Annotated, relating to compulsory attendance, is amended by adding a new Code section to9 read as follows: 10 "20-2-692.5.11 (a) This Code section shall be known and may be cited as the 'Teagan Church Act.'12 (b) A student who serves as a member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America,13 as defined in Title 36 of the United States Code, and participates in an official Girl Scout14 sanctioned visit to the Georgia State Capitol shall be credited as present by the school in15 which such student is enrolled in the same manner as an educati onal field trip, and such16 H.
