26 LC 39 4913 House Resolution 1271 By: Representatives Cannon of the 172nd and Ford of the 170th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. William Brown Lovett and dedicating an interchange in his1 memory; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. William Brown Lovett was born on October 6, 1824, in Montgomery3 County, Georgia, the eldest son of Joshua and Elizabeth Lovett; and4 WHEREAS, he grew up on the family farm in Adel, Georgia, learni ng the trade from his5 parents, spent his life in Lowndes County, Georgia, and later became known as one of the6 leading farmers of Berrien County, where his talent and efficie ncy in growing corn was7 widely recognized; and8 WHEREAS, Mr. Lovett was united in love and marriage to his wife, Eliza, and was blessed9 with eight children; and10 WHEREAS, an advocate for education, Mr. Lovett had the Lovett School built on his land,11 which eventually became known as the Pine Bloom School; and12 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation13 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and14 H. R. 1271 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4913 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished15 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an interchange in his memory.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL17 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange of State Route 401/I-75 and Barneyville18 Road in Cook County is dedicated as the William Brown Lovett Memorial Interchange.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and20 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the William Brown Lovett21 Memorial Interchange.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the24 family of Mr. William Brown Lovett and to the Department of Transportation.25 H.
