26 LC 129 0998 House Resolution 1270 By: Representatives Seabaugh of the 34 th, Hawkins of the 27 th, Franklin of the 160 th, Stephens of the 164th, Rice of the 139th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing May 2026 as Save Your Tooth Month; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, maintaining proper oral hygiene and preserving natural teeth are essential for2 optimal oral health, which impacts patients' overall health and well-being; and3 WHEREAS, each year, over 25 million teeth are preserved through endodontic treatments,4 including 15 million root canal procedures, emphasizing the imp ortance of saving natural5 teeth for improved appearance and maintaining essential functio ns such as chewing and6 speech; and7 WHEREAS, throughout May, the American Association of Endodontists will launch a public8 awareness campaign emphasizing the necessity of maintaining natural teeth; and9 WHEREAS, endodontists, as highly skilled dental specialists, ex cel in diagnosing and10 treating tooth pain and infection through life-changing endodontic procedures, such as root11 canals, trauma dental injuries, vital pulp therapy, and apicoec tomy, thereby safeguarding12 patients' natural teeth; and 13 H. R. 1270 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0998 WHEREAS, with two to three additional years of training post dental school, endodontists14 utilize advanced technology and specialized care to best treat tooth pain and infection; and15 WHEREAS, endodontists dedicate their dental practice exclusively to endodontic treatments,16 performing an average of 25 root canal treatments weekly; and 17 WHEREAS, endodontists frequently collaborate with general denti sts to ensure18 comprehensive dental care and employ a specialized approach tha t leads to better health19 outcomes and swift recovery for patients; and20 WHEREAS, teeth serve as vital components for nutrition, emotional expression, and overall21 health indicators; neglecting oral hygiene can lead to various health complications; and 22 WHEREAS, regular dental visits, thorough brushing and flossing twice daily, and avoiding23 cavity-causing foods and habits are essential steps in maintain ing gum, teeth, and mouth24 health.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize May 2026 as Save Your Tooth Month and commend the27 work of endodontists in the State of Georgia.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the30 American Association of Endodontists, the public, and the press.31 H.
