26 LC 129 0995 House Resolution 1285 By: Representatives Hilton of the 48th, Hong of the 103rd, Carpenter of the 4th, Donatucci of the 105th, Cheokas of the 151st, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 9-13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at the state capitol; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, organ donation is a lifesaving and life-enhancing gift, offering hope and healing3 to the thousands of individuals awaiting transplants each year; and4 WHEREAS, more than 100,000 people in the United States are curr ently on the national5 transplant waiting list; and6 WHEREAS, a single donor can save up to eight lives, restore sight in two individuals, and7 improve the lives of more than 75 others through tissue donation; and8 WHEREAS, Georgia Donor Week serves as a time to honor donors and their families for the9 extraordinary generosity that makes transplantation possible; and10 WHEREAS, this observance also recognizes the dedicated medical teams, recovery11 organizations, healthcare processionals, and community partners who work tirelessly to12 support donation and transplantation.13 H. R. 1285 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0995 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that14 the members of this body recognize February 9-13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at the state15 capitol and encourage all citizens to learn more about organ donation.16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized17 and directed to make an appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the18 public and the press.19 H.
