Senate Resolution 739

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 26, 2026, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol1
and commending law enforcement officers in Georgia; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol exists to honor the local,3
state, and federal law enforcement officers for putting their lives on the line every day and4
to commend them for everything they do; and5
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are highly trained professionals who work overtime6
to ensure the safety of our communities and whose duties primarily involve the enforcement7
of laws, protecting life and property, keeping the peace, and o ther public safety related8
duties; and9
WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies provide police services in the State of Georgia that10
are aimed at achieving more effective and efficient crime control, a reduced fear of crime,11
an improved quality of life, and an improved police legitimacy through a proactive reliance12
on community resources that seeks to minimize crime-causing conditions and ensures that13
all Georgia citizens are served in a professional, ethical, and equitable manner by14
establishing strong commitments with all segments of society ba sed on trust and positive,15
professional relationships; and16

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers from local, state, and federa l agencies work17
cooperatively to enhance public safety for all Georgia citizens and visitors; and18
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day as they serve with19
honor, courage, dignity, and compassion for their fellow citizens.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21
recognize February 26, 2026, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol and22
commend law enforcement officers in Georgia for protecting our communities and for23
putting their lives on the line every day.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to Georgia law26
enforcement officers.27
