26 LC 129 1003 House Resolution 1326 By: Representatives Gaines of the 120th, Frye of the 122nd, and Rhodes of the 124th A RESOLUTION Recognizing Family and Consumer Sciences; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is a comprehensive body of research,2 knowledge, and skills and helps people make informed decisions about their well-being,3 relationships, and resources to achieve their optimal quality of life; and4 WHEREAS, Family and Consumer Sciences professionals, with a unique focus on families,5 work, and their interrelationships, empower individuals and fam ilies to manage the6 challenges of living and working in a diverse global society; and7 WHEREAS, national, state, and local policy makers, education administrators, and the public8 need an understanding of the scope of Family and Consumer Scien ces and its direct9 relevance to serious societal concerns today, such as obesity, food safety, financial literacy,10 the complexities of family life, and the role of parents, careg ivers, and other adults in11 preparing children for school readiness; and12 WHEREAS, Family and Consumer Sciences professionals provide rel evant content for13 students preparing for careers in teaching, extension, human services, and a variety of other14 careers; and15 H. R. 1326 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1003 WHEREAS, federal, state, and local decision makers strongly influence allocation of funds16 for Family and Consumer Sciences as well as administrative and curricular structure at all17 levels; and18 WHEREAS, the Family, Career, Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), communities19 and other entities within FCS, support the development and implementation of initiatives to20 promote uniform name recognition of Family and Consumer Science s, and a greater21 understanding of the important role of Family and Consumer Sciences education in preparing22 families to successfully manage the many and varied challenges of everyday life.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize the affiliates, communities, and other entities within25 Family and Consumer Sciences, and support and facilitate the de velopment and26 implementation of national, state , and local intervention strat egies to sustain Family and27 Consumer Sciences in the current economic and education environment.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Family and Consumer Sciences.31 H.
