Senate Resolution 751
By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Anderson of the 43rd and Rhett of the 33rd
A RESOLUTION
Honoring Shontell Saunders-Murphy; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Shontell Saunders-Murphy has long been recognized by the citizens of this state2
for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the3
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and4
WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United5
States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans until her honarble6
discharge in 1995; and7
WHEREAS, During her service, she served as a Master-at-Arms, attended Yeoman training8
school, and went on to serve as a Yeoman to both the Commanding Officer and Executive9
Officer at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Florida, where she developed a strong10
foundation in leadership, organization, and operational excellence; and11
WHEREAS, following her military service, she has built a distinguished career in healthcare12
management and veteran advocacy, and currently serves as the Pr esident and CEO of13
Veterans Advocate, Inc., where she assists veterans in navigati ng the Veteran's Affairs14
disability compensation process; and15

WHEREAS, Shontell's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience16
and diplomacy, and keen sense of vision, have earned her the respect and admiration of her17
colleagues and associates; and18
WHEREAS, committed to service beyond her profession, Shontell h as held multiple19
leadership roles within the community, including serving on the Executive Board of20
American Veterans as a Public Relations Officer and on the Executive Board of the National21
Association of Black Military Women as a Social Media and Public Relations Officer; and22
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for23
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
honor Shontell Saunders-Murphy for her unwavering dedication to advocating for veterans,28
their families, and underserved communities and extend the most sincere best wishes for her29
continued health and happiness.30
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Shontell32
Saunders-Murphy.33
