26 LC 129 0683 House Resolution 1304 By: Representatives Campbell of the 35th, Cummings of the 39th, Jones of the 60th, Evans of the 57th, Hugley of the 141st, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 24, 2026, as ERA day in the state of Georgia; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, women in Georgia and in the United States have continuously worked to gain2 full rights and privileges– public or private, legal or institutional– as citizens of the United3 States, and4 WHEREAS, women in Georgia, and in every state, worked to secure women's right to vote5 among other significant milestones in equal rights; and6 WHEREAS, it is critical to remember the trailblazers that made it possible for women to7 vote, and it is vital to teach the history and hear the voices of the women who persist in8 telling their stories; and9 WHEREAS, the work of past and present Suffragists and Equal Rig hts Amendment10 Advocates, including the League of Women Voters, the Georgia Wo men's Legislative11 Caucus, and so many more have contributed and continue to contribute to the protection of12 equal rights for women; and13 H. R. 1304 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0683 WHEREAS, ERA Day highlights the ongoing need for equality in va rious aspects of life,14 including economic security, reproductive health, and political representation; and15 WHEREAS, recognizing ERA Day as a day of celebration throughout the state of Georgia16 and the country emphasizes the importance of women's work for democracy and equal rights.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize February 24, 2026, as ERA day in support of women's19 equality in Georgia and across our nation.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22 public and the press.23 H.
