HR1317: HR1317 Lambert High School girls golf team; winning the 2025 Georgia High School Association Class 6A Girls Golf State Championship; commend

26 LC 112 3705 House Resolution 1317 By: Representatives Cox of the 28th, McDonald III of the 26th, Jones of the 25th, Clark of the 100th, Barrett of the 24th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Lambert High School girls golf team for winning the 20251 Georgia High School Association Class 6A Girls Golf State Champ ionship; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Lambert High School girls golf team has achieved an extraordinary level4 of success by capturing the 2025 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class 6A Girls5 Golf State Championship, held May 19-20, 2025; and6 WHEREAS, the Longhorns posted a record two-day team total of 421 strokes, finishing 117 under par and winning the team title by 69 strokes over runner- up Lowndes High School8 (490) and third-place Richmond Hill High School (493) in one of the most dominant9 performances in GHSA girls golf championship history; and10 WHEREAS, this victory secured Lambert's sixth consecutive GHSA girls golf state11 championship and the 11th state title in program history, exten ding a remarkable tradition12 of excellence in Georgia high school golf; and13 WHEREAS, the team was led by head coach Shane Fortenberry and assistant coach Devon14 Lancaster, whose leadership, preparation, and commitment to the ir student-athletes have15 H. R. 1317 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3705 been instrumental in building and sustaining one of the premier girls golf programs in the16 state and in the nation; and17 WHEREAS, freshman Grace Lee claimed the individual GHSA Class 6A girls medalist title18 with rounds of 69 and 66 for a two-day total of 135, finishing nine strokes under par, while19 senior teammate Athena Yoo finished as the individual state run ner-up at six under par,20 giving Lambert the top two individual finishers in the championship; and21 WHEREAS, senior Zoe Duval contributed significantly with rounds of 75 and 73 to finish22 fourth individually at 148, while teammates McKinlee Proctor and freshman Fiona Kim also23 turned in strong performances, placing 12th and 20th respective ly, to secure Lambert's24 commanding team total under the GHSA "play 4, count 3" scoring format; and25 WHEREAS, the 2025 championship squad—consisting of Grace Lee, A thena Yoo, Zoe26 Duval, McKinlee Proctor, Fiona Kim, and Kyla Cheung—has brought great honor and27 recognition to Lambert High School, Forsyth County, and the State of Georgia through its28 competitive excellence, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game of golf; and29 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these student-athletes reflect not only their talent and30 hard work but also the steadfast support of their families, school administrators, teachers, and31 the broader Lambert community, all of whom have encouraged thei r pursuit of both32 academic and athletic success; and33 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that this outstanding team, its coaches, and its individual34 performers be appropriately recognized and honored for their exemplary representation of35 their school and this state.36 H. R. 1317 - 2 - 26 LC 112 3705 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that37 the members of this body recognize and commend the Lambert High School girls golf team,38 head coach Shane Fortenberry, assistant coach Devon Lancaster, and team members Grace39 Lee, Athena Yoo, Zoe Duval, McKinlee Proctor, Fiona Kim, and Kyla Cheung for winning40 the 2025 GHSA Class 6A Girls Golf State Championship and for their continued tradition41 of excellence as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for future success on and off the42 golf course.43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized44 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the45 Lambert High School girls golf team and its coaches.46 H.
