26 LC 47 3982 Senate Bill 496 By: Senators Brass of the 6th, Hatchett of the 50th, Bearden of the 30th, Anavitarte of the 31st and Anderson of the 24th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Article 1 of Chapter 36 of Title 36 of the Official Co de of Georgia Annotated,1 relating to general provisions for annexation of territory, so as to provide that certain2 annexations are contingent upon approval of the county in which the subject property is3 located; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Article 1 of Chapter 36 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Ge orgia Annotated, relating to7 general provisions for annexation of territory, is amended by adding a new Code section to8 read as follows:9 "36-36-12.10 Notwithstanding any other provisions of this chapter to the con trary, any proposed11 annexation pursuant to Article 2, 3, or 4 of this chapter is contingent upon the adoption of12 a resolution by the governing authority of the county in which such property is located13 consenting to such annexation."14 S.
